So, this beauty is the Sourdough Loaf I bought from Greens (previous post - also did I mention? it was still warm when I got it.. *drools* ) I mean, just look at it.
It's exactly how you want it to be.
Dark, chewy, thick 'ears' & crust - but oh so soft and pillowy inside!
This loaf was perfect as it was, on its own freshly sliced & i'm sure the next few days it'll become toast with a generous helping of Lurpak & maybe a sandwich or two, possibly even a grilled cheese (ooo dreamy) - but I'd picked up some Delamere goats cheese in Greens as well and I couldn't rest until I'd tried it (impatient greedy guts.. I know leave me alone).
The cheese was so fresh, not too chalky & dry, which I think some goats cheese can be.
Some fresh vine tomato on top from my local Greengrocers- Forber's in New Brighton (along with some amazing perfectly ripe peaches) , some salt & pepper and the tiniest sprinkle of oregano.
Basically.. a very simple cheese & tomato on bread. But it was delicious!
The Wild Pear Bakehouse is actually very local to me & to Greens being based in Birkenhead. At the moment, they're a wholesale bakery supplying a number of independents locally with bread & other baked goods - so I'm lucky to be able to pick up from a number of places if I'm quick enough!
According to their instagram, they will also be re-opening their own bakery on Saturdays so that we can buy directly from them as well - so when the time comes get down there! Or try and be quick enough and get to one of their vendors!
